Contemporary Issues

Contemporary Issues is a programme which is designed to cover a diverse and broad range of topics and which incorporates visiting lecturers and visits out of school.

An awareness of current events and issues underpins a good education and could benefit you personally in many ways, particularly when it comes to applying for higher education courses. The programme changes every year to reflect to the needs of each group of students in the LVI, but, amongst many other topics, visiting lecturers have spoken about improving study skills, preparing effectively for A Level examinations, how to design a cv that will make you stand out from the crowd, the dangers of alcohol, AIDS awareness, the history of pop music, dealing with mental illness and cycling across Africa. Each year, our students attend a ‘Safe Drive Stay Alive’ presentation and visit the Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London.
